FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Myers wins two in a row at Wayne County Speedway

By Ryan Pearson

Orrville, Ohio—Wayne County Speedway kicked off the opening night of the Federated Auto Parts Triple Thunder Sizzler Series Saturday night June 25th with the Kids Extravaganza. Saturday’s festivities got started early with kids games and ended with kids Bicycles races. In between was a night of action packed racing in all divisions. Federated Auto Parts along with 104.5 FM WQKT ‘Sports Country’ was the sponsor of tonight’s racing.

In the American Payroll Advance Super Late Model it was Eric ‘Spud’ Myers taking home the checkered flag in the CRM Colored Mulch, Advance Cylinder, Gottarace.com, Weisgarber Trucking, Mason Racin, Panther Motorsports Design, Baseline Transport, Paradise Lawn Care, Malcuit Racing engine powered Rocket Chassis. Ryan Markham started on the pole but by the completion of the first lap it was Myers who powered to the front. That’s how they would run on the score board but on the track Myers and Markham raced side by side for several laps with Myers manning the bottom and Markham hanging it out on the top. After battling it out for the majority of the race, on Lap 22 Myers started to pull away from Markham. That’s how they crossed the finish line. Doug Drown finished third, Dave Wirt forth and 17th starting Jerry Miller rounded out the top five. Heat races went to Wirt, Drown, Myers and Markham. Dave Hornikel won the B-Main.

“That was a good race, side by side lap after lap” stated Myers. “It was the same thing we have always been doing. Jim, Kyle, Jerry and Dave did it tonight. It took a few laps for my tires to light up but when it did it took off. My hats off to my crew they did a heck of a job”

In the RPM Motorsports division it was the 2004 Modified Points Champion Larry Kugel taking the lead on the first lap. It was short lived as on the second lap Took Wiles jumped out front and never looked back. It looked as if Rob Stambaugh was saving a little extra for Wiles but a lap 12 bobble cost him several positions. Stambaugh was able to work his way back to the second place position where he would finish. Coming home third was Bruce Miller, he was followed by Jay Howe and Mitchell Lam. Heat race went to Howe, Wiles and Kugel. While Rory Reed won the B-Main.

In the Thrifty Discount Muffler Pure Stock division it was Troy Anderson taking the early lead. On lap 6 Fred Snyder would work his way to the point and battle to hold off the competition as Jose Marsh and Troy Anderson hounded him lap after lap. They worked hard but Snyder a little harder as he held them off for his first win of 2005. Anderson finished second followed by Marsh for third. Finishing fourth was Tim Myers and fifth Todd Werntz. Anderson, Marsh and Snyder were the heat race winners.

Due to time constraints the Federated Auto Parts Mini Stocks couldn’t start their feature. Saturday July 2nd the Federated Auto Parts Mini Stocks will run their make up feature along with a complete additional show.
