FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Myers wins at Wayne County Speedway

By Ryan Pearson

Orrville, Ohio-The action was bad fast at Wayne County Speedway Saturday night June 18th for the Mid Season Championships. All divisions were competing for double points plus the additional bragging rights of being a Mid Season Champion. The grandstand was full of fans and over 100 race cars packed the pits. The nights racing was sponsored by 104.5 WQKT which saw Eric ‘Spud’ Myers best a strong field of Super Late Models to come home the feature winner for his third win of the year.

In the American Payroll Advance Super Late Models division Scott Peltz started on the point but by the completion of the first lap Myers had blasted into the lead from his 4th starting position. An early caution would fly for a Thomas Baker spin out on lap 3. At the drop of the green flag Myers again would pull away. 7th starting Mark Banal would zip up to second place and set his sights on the leader. By lap 10 Myers had a comfortable lead and looked like he had it in the bag. Another caution, this time Rick Bond spun on lap 12. If Banal was going to make his move it would now. Myers puts it on cruise control and Banal can not close the gap. On lap 14 Dave Wirt would slide up into the second place position and he too attempted to pressure Myers. But Myers had them covered tonight, as he brought the CRM Colored Mulch, Advance Cylinder, Gottarace.com, Weisgarber Trucking, Mason Racin, Panther Motorsports Design, Baseline Transport, Paradise Lawn Care, Malcuit Racing engine powered Rocket Chassis to victory lane. </SPAN>

“The car was awesome again Ryan, we had a great race car” stated Myers. Kyle (Figley) dialed it in again; we did some tuning on shocks and stuff. Freed the car up, she was good. My guys are incredible and it showed tonight”.

In the RPM Motorsports Modified division the first lap would see some tight racing as Barry Jacobs and Larry Kugel were going for the same ground which resulted in damage to Jacob’s machine. Jacobs was forced to retire for the evening. Kugel then would take the early lead which was short lived as a caution came out for Rob Cutlip, Mitchell Lam and Mike Lonas. Lonas was not able to continue and retired pit-side. When we returned to racing it again was Kugel showing the way for the first 6 laps. On lap 7 David Liles would motor to the front and 14th starting Rob Stambaugh would slip up to 5th place. Stambaugh picked them off on by on as he slowly worked his way into 2nd place on lap 11. A fierce battle would wage for the lead as Liles and Stambaugh switched running order on lap 15. Liles battled back and regained the lead on the next lap and would extend a short lead to take the checkered flag. He was followed by hard charging Stambaugh, Jess Hartman, 16th starting Took Wiles and Bobby Kitchen.

In the Thrifty Discount Muffler Pure Stock division it was last weeks feature winner Troy Anderson setting the pace early. Jim Nicely would put some pressure on Anderson on lap 6 but he couldn’t complete the pass. Larry Baldwin would bring out the caution with a spin and he was able to continue. Jose Marsh was able to zig and zag his way up the second place by lap 12 and pressure Anderson for the lead. As the white flag flew Marsh slid by Anderson for the lead and went on for this first win of 2005 at WCS. Marsh was followed by Anderson, Fred Snyder, Todd Werntz and Jim Nicely.

In the Federated Auto Parts Mini Stock division Jeff Thiel would set sail out front of the field. On lap 6 coming off of turn two, Thiel slid high causing him to fall back to third place handing the lead over to Henry Britton. Three time feature winner Dale Beckett moved into the second place and would pressure Britton. Beckett couldn’t make a pass stick and would settle for second. Britton would take his first win for 2005; he was followed by Beckett, Thiel, Bradley Hensel and Mike Snyder.
